Kennametal is a worldwide leader in metallurgical and material tooling equipment. It all started in 1938 when founder Philip McKenna created a tungsten-titanium carbide alloy for cutting steel. Carbide tools cut faster and lasted longer than the standard cutting tools of the day. When World War II started, American heavy industry used the new carbide tooling extensively. By the mid-40’s, carbide cutting tools were now the standard. In 1946 the Kendrex line of mechanically held, indexable insert system was developed. These “inserts” improved tool changing speed and increased precision while keeping tooling cost down. Today, Kennametal remains a leader in innovation present in their entire line of cutting tools. Below you will find links to their various tooling lines and categories.
